Since in class we have been studing how there are improvements on products and technology that in some cases doesn’t come from the same manufacturers of the product, but instead the improvements come from the users of the products who had made some changes to the product until they convert it into something that meet their new interesting requirements.
This made the whole class to think a lot an get to realise that many innovations really come from average users who have an opinion on the product that really could make it much better. As an example of this we have the discovery of the mountain bikes, which turns out that the ones who invented them were common people who used regular bikes and made on them some modifications in order to use them in the mountain.
So noticing this I have found two other examples that promote this type of thinking which is quite intersting. The first one is the Life in a Day experiment which consist one making a film of a day (the day already was july 24th) of a lot of different people from around the world and then Ridley Scott and Kevin Macdonald are going to produce an an experimental documentary film about it which is going to be ready for January of 2011.
The other example is about the spanish short movie called the wiki movie (la wiki peli) in which instead of taking shots of different people as in the first example, what they are going to do is take the opinions from many people in order to get the plot of the short movie. Actually this is the 2nd wiki movie experiment they do.
So this is a kind of a nice experimental way to produce some works and hopefully it gets some pretty interesting results.
