Google uses remote kill switch on malware

Now in the free software master have been studying the project management subject, so this particular action from google is an example of the actions and decisions that sometimes the management of a community has to take.

Apparently since the tuesday google have seen that there are many malicious apps in their android market, so as soon as they noticed they removed them from the market suspending the developer account. Then they have remotely removed the malicious apps from all the phones using their Remote Application Removal Feature. And finaly they have been pushing a security update to all the affected devices in order to undo the exploits that try to root the phone.

So, even though many people may complain about google having access to their phone without permission and starting to think they are loosing their freedom, to me it seems that google is trying at all costs to maintain their social leadership in this project in order to accomplish their business goals. If we think about it, if google had not done anything maybe people could still say they are free to choose what app they can install or uninstall, but they would be dealing with a major security/personal sensitive infomation issue with their devices.
